Look at the before and after. Tell me what you think on the touch up job.

I think you did a good job. For me, it's a slightly over-sharpened and over-saturated...but that could be from the resizing.

Hey Rumjungle, This isn't the best I know but I'm just learning PSE. And No it's not resizing, it's me. I tend to over saturate and over sharpen. I like the Sat. but could back off the unsharp mask here. THANK YOU for your input, it is much appreciated.:D

Hey BG! You're back! Gotta tell ya...I think it looks oversaturated and oversharpened too...sorry:( It may just be my monitor...or maybe it's yours;)

Has it been raining there again lately? The hibiscus petal in the foreground looks to have a small fungus spot.

Dear beachgirl,

The colors are very vivid, the lighting is just right, the exposure and color balance are dead on. The composition is OK. Probably the worst thing I could say about this image is that the patch of bone white is a little distracting.

As a personal preference, I like the DOF to be a bit deeper, but the softness of the back half doesn't bother me that much.

I like it - congratulations!

Personally I like the slightly over saturated look in some pictures. It kinds of adds another level of interest to the picture with the bright colours. Second pic seems a lot sharper and you can see all the petal details. The touch-up is 100% better than the first one.

Hey Meaty0, :D OK I agree I over sharpened the flower, But I like the color. And this was just the first time I fixed some spots and it actually looked ALRIGHT. Not the best but at least a baby step in all this learning.

Hi Bob, WOW THANK YOU. I agree with you on the white window frame is distracting. I was trying to get the little thingy(i don't like to call it a thingy, but I don't know what it is called) in the middle to be in focus, explains why back half is OOF. I kinda over PS it, but it was better then the original. ;)
Best Regards
Jenny

Nidz, me too, I like sat. in SOME pics. And this one was all washed out anyway.I'm trying to learn this PSE and it was the 1st time I did anything decent. I love a challenge;) THANK YOU for your nice comments.

Hey Jenny I like a combo of the two images. I prefer the compostion of the original, although it may just be the size of the two images on the screen. I like the color of the second (I love the color red :D ). The second is a tad oversharpened so if toned down should be perfect.

And I'd do a bit more repair work on the petal. I didn't get the sharpening right either (i'm afraid it'll take a bit of effor to save it in that regard) but here's what I mean:

I started with your first image and used the cloning & spot healing tools to fix the blemishes.

Hey, you've got to start somewhere. The more you use it, the more techniques you'll pick up. Photoshop is a pretty complicated and feature rich program. Most photographers I know only use a fraction of its capabilities. If you're interested, I think this may be a good read for you:
