I took these images behind my home today at a stream. They look bad to me and I am just looking for some helpful information on getting better at these shots. I was shooting RAW in tv mode with 100 ISO at 2.5 sec shutter and f/29. I was there at a bad time of the day also (12:00 pm) and the sun was high in the sky. I am going to go back early in the morning to try it again. The water level is up as well and more water than usual is running over these rocks. Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The pictures are great. The colors and the composition are very good. The exposure seems to be OK in that while there are some highlights blown out, there is a good range of tonality. I like them both. However, I don't understand where some of those colors are coming from - it's like an artist gone wild with the palette.

Now, a little criticism - the forum guidelines are to keep your posted images at 800 pixels or less on the longest side. That is so no one has to scroll around to see the whole picture.

Thanks - fabulous pictures!

I think they turned out well, too, especially considering the time of day. I like the soft look due to the long exposure. But maybe you can try some that are a little shorter while you're out there next time. Somehow it feels a little too soft to me. But they are a great first try. :)

It might be nice to see more of those nice, smooth ripples in the upper right-hand corner of the first one. The green from the trees (i guess) that are reflected there looks pretty neat.

I think you got the only opinion that could count with Mr. Lay's assessment. You may want to retire now!

I like them much, but do wish there was a deeper DOF, at least from my vantage point. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the comments and help. I went back this morning and took some more images, but I still think I got there a little late. The sun was already hitting on that area of the stream in spots, and it was around 8:45am. I am going to try to get some evening shots of this area. I think they will come out even better with evening lighting. Also if the rain would ever slack off for a little bit and let some of the water levels go down, I should be able to get better shots. Thanks again for the comments.
