What are your opinions of this lens? Is is worth the money? I shoot with 20D's and mostly weddings & portraits.

It's well worth the money in terms of image quality. But for weddings, the 24-70L would be more versatile. I also like the 85 f/1.8 or the 100 f/2 for portraits.

The 135L, one of the (if not the) sharpest lens from Canon. Many here will sing its praises, and many will tell you its their most un-used lens. There seems to be a rash of people selling these lenses. Most common complaint is that its too long on a crop camera. For weddings, I think it would have very limited use, and therefore not the best choice. A 24-70L would be a much better decision, for the low light, and versatility of the zoom. For the right scenarios, there isn't any better lens, but the scenarios tend to be limited.

I don't have the 135 L, but it is certainly worth the money. Many people regard it as Canon's best lens, period.

It is very sharp wide open at f2.
Colors from this lens is amazing....super contrasty, minimal PP needed.
Very nice bokeh, something to yearn for...

Definitely worth the money. You wont regret getting this lens.
But its only good for face/ top half body shots.135 is a lil too long for 1.6x cameras to do full body.

BigBlueDodge summed up my sentiments so well thre's no need to repeat what he said.

I bought the 135L after hearing so much about it from anyone who's ever used the lens, and I fell in love with this almost magical prime. It's given me the nicest pictures but I did find it a little long on my 20D. Instead of selling the lens, I sold the 20D and bought a 1.3x crop camera, namely my two 1D bodies. It's that good.

Even if the rumour mills are true and canon does indeed bring back the 200 f1.8 prime, it will cost an arm and a leg, while the 135L is only a little more than a value for money L like the 70-200 f4 or the 17-40L. Again it's true that i do not use it very often, but when i do bring it out, it NEVER fails to impress me.

My 70-200IS is very good, but at 135mm, I still think 135L has the edge in colour and contrast.

This time last year all I had was a 10D and a 50mm f1.8
I was saving for the 135L. For a few months. It was that important to me. Then I got it. And I love it. Soon after that I got the 100mm f2. It was alright, but I sold it and got the 50mm. It was alright... I kept it.
Point is the 135L has spoilt things a bit, other lenses tend to be a let down.

Next glass may be the 35/1.4 or the 300/4.

I would love to be able to use it more. It takes such wonderful photos, but the length is not usually appropriate.

Excellent glass worth every penny. Get it and if for some reason you don't like it, you can always off-load it $50-$100 cheaper on this site or FM.
