Lee Varis, one of the top Photoshop experts in the US, is offering a bundle of Photoshop actions for $7.98. Included are actions for digital Velvia, digital Kodachrome (saturates only the unsaturated colors), four sharpening actions, stairstep enlargement of files and a whole lot more. They work as good as Fred Miranda's actions but you get about twenty actions for $8 instead of the $10-20 for each action that Fred charges.

To get the actions you go to the website and download the "Actions" step-by-step" PDF tutorial and then at the back of the tutorial is a link to download the set of actions. Lee's site also has a lot of other very useful Photoshop tutorials and some free downloads. Check it out. http://www.varis.com/Navigation/Steps.html (external link)

I have a simple question from a beginning Photoshop user. Are the actions offered here(http://www.varis.com/Navigation/Steps.html (external link)) for Windows or Mac machines? It looks like a good deal, but I run Windows, and want to make sure I get the right stuff.

BTW- I'm running Photoshop 6, will these actions work with this version?

Thanks.

The actions are for both Mac and PC. I'm not sure if they will work in PS v6 but I would think they would--no guarantees.

I went to the web page and checked it out. How good are the sharpen actions. From their names I could not tell what they do and if they would be useful. I have only used unsharp mask in photoshop.
Thanks,
Bob g

The actions are very good. Lee is a top Photoshop artist and techer. He has incorporated much of what he knows into the actions. I guess if you really want to know how they work you'll have to risk the $8, but I'm sure you will not be sorry. Sites like Fred Miranda charge $10-20 per action and Lee's site will give you the PDF tutorial and 23 actiions for $8. The tutorial alone is well worth the $8. In fact, I would suggest downloading other of his PDF tutorials.
