Hello, I have had my G3 now for 2 weeks and been having so much fun. It's my first digital camera. Here is a photo I took of my cat last night. No flash used. Not the best but I'm still learning.

Beautiful cat :o)

You might want to check out some of the links I've compiled on the G3 and photography. They've helped me out a lot.

Thanks John for the link. I have been an SLR user for a long time now so I'm just in the stages of learning digital. You link will come in handy.

Bell - I could not view your photos. I still learning how website albums work too. I have one at ofoto.com but have not figured out how to link my album to this forum.

Here are 2 more photos taken on the second day I owned this camera. Both on Auto Mode & Macro. I'm happy to say that I have now progressed off of the Auto.

mauitiki,
I don't know if you were requesting critique for the photo but if I may make a few suggestions:
Try the "tungsten light" setting under White Balance settings. It will help eliminate the orange cast to your photo.
Also, my monitor does not pick up any detail in the face of the cat (which could be my own fault as I set my monitor brightness low) but if you shot the image hand held you may wish to expose a little more for the shadows (either raise the aperture, slow the shutter speed or use the adjust the exposure compensation function).
Just my (hopefully) helpful hints!
Good luck with your new camera!

MG

No Wait!
I had that wrong! In order to capture more highlights in the shadows you could lower the aperture setting (a higher number) or raise the shutter speed (in one of the manual settings, of course).
Gosh, guess I need to go back and take those early photo classes again!

Regards,

MG

Thank you "MG" for the tips. I always like to hear them. It helps to become a better photographer. That's how we learn :) I don't know why you could not see my cats face. As you said it could be your moniter settings. Yes, the photo is very orange. I used no flash and just had the camera on Auto. It was very hard to get a clear shot as she is not a very good model. Never likes sitting still LOL. I used the same shot and tweeked it in Adobe Photo to Black & White and just added a touch of tan. I like this one better.
