Totally stupid question, but I can't google the answer. Is the Rebel Xt's kit lens a USM lens? I don't have it with me to check the barrel. If not, what's the difference between the 2 and the price difference as well?

If it feels like you are forcing it, or it start clicking, you have the non-usm. the USM version will be easier to rotate the focusing ring. Actually, no. The 18-55 USM uses the micro-USM motor, not the ring USM, which does permit FTM wherever it's found. The only FTM using a micro USM motor Jon
