On the 20d,when switching between P and any other shooting mode, the images have the correct number on them, but when I download to the computer they are out of sequence. Some pictures taken at the end of a session may appear in the middle or even at the front of the downloaded file. Any explanations. Not the card, does it on all cards.

think that would be due to the file naming change associated with the different color spaces used btw P and say AV modes. look closely at the names, shot count will be a sequence, but prefix will be different I wager.

may not be relevant, but I have had similar on the 300d - I always assumed (I had a micro drive) that out of order photos were because I had deleted some and subsequent phtos were put into the 'deleted' spaces first...............was I being totally dumb?

I have noticed that the name changes when you switch from JPG to RAW [from IMG_xxxx to CRW_xxxx] on my 300D.

I assume when you offload the files to computer, you are right clicking in a blank section of the window, and choosing 'sort by name' however? Otherwise it might be sorting by file size, etc.

Same here sometimes, after you've downloaded, just select the folder, right click, and sort by "date taken" or whatever it says.
