Yeah, well done...but be careful, the flowers can be addictive...;)

Try shooting the same shots with a diffuser...to soften the light...if the light is too harsh (or hot) the colours can blow out and you get harsh shadows...
Pic #1 - would be better against an isolating background of just green? The other background flowers compete for your eye...
Pic#2 - nice composition on the Sweet William (Dianthus)...could be better with more detail...closer in on the centre of the flower (those pipe cleaner-looking things?)...
Keen to see more of your shots...keep 'em coming.:)

Thanks!

In pic one, I know what you mean with the background. It's conflicting with the overall picture.

In pic two, I cropped out a bunch of stuff. The overall picture was suppose to have the flower positioned to the left a little, but it looked so much betetr cropped like that.

Is that what you call it? A sweet william?

Thanks again for the C&C!:)

More are welcome! :D

Addictive - well it's all individual but once you're bitten...
Flowers - every colour under the sun, some with one colour, others with 4 or 5...
if you're lucky enough to have the right climate there's something to shoot all year round...some are the size of your thumbnail - others the size of dinner plates...

At first you shoot everything (not very well)...then the next year you can try again (learning from your mistakes - i made heaps of those) - then there's the trap of trying to identify what you're shooting...then when you've learnt a few common types there are the native flowers and on and on and on...I think these facts are generic to all photographers...

shoot like crazy,
wonder why some didn't work, ("How did i stuff that up?" )
try again,
and eventually find an area that continues to fascinate you after the rest has faded....
so it's a pleasing addiction (but drugs are definitely cheaper) :D :D
go on - get addicted...

catsith - can't wait for the 'dutchies'...they take their tulips seriously.:D
