This is a shot I took while in a local cemetary. The lighting was perfect so I grabed the shot. I was suprised when I made it grayscale. I promise this is the last one I'll post for a while. Its only my second post anyway.

Dear Jeremy,

Very nice perspective and composition.
The lighting is very good, but I think it is just a little too hot in all the highlights.
If you were to run the exposure down just a little, I think it would give you a lot more detail in the higher tones.

I'm going to take it into PS and try a little of that just to be sure.

Very nice work!

Wow Jeremy. I love this shot. Besides what Mr Lay (EDIT: Ooops...sorry...Bob) said, the only thing I would do would be to remove some of the blemishes (not all) as they are a bit distracting.

I think that with a bit of work, you could have a "frame and hang" worthy picture. Please post more?

Paul

Thank you all for the nice comments. I am still fairly new to this so I will be taking loads more photos. Anything you can let me know to help me will be taken to heart.

Here is the whole sculpture with a different perspective.

I disagree. This is an aged work of art. The blemishes make it work very well.

And yes, the statue is pretty hot in both shots, Jeremy, though #2 is not as hot. Pretty easy to cure though so no need to re-shoot.

The key here is your shot composition is very nice. Using the trees in the background was a very good choice and a nice contrast.

You have The Eye. Good work.

I like the perspective and the composition on this later one even better.
One reason for that is that the subject has a better foundation than the original post, which is sort of floating in its frame.

The only thing that would improve the composition a little would be to back up so as to provide a little more space above (for the subject to look into). It might also work in the portrait orientation.

I think Jim is correct when he says you have "The Eye".

I have to disagree with your disagreement:D First of all; it may not be an "aged" work of art at all. It doesn't state how old the monument is. I know what your getting at though, and you would notice I said to remove SOME of the blemishes. To be specific, just the ones on the jawline. They make the statue look like it has a bad case of Acne!

I too like the second image more. Partly because it doesn't show these marks.

Paul
