I just ordered from B&H. Didn't have any monitor calibration hardware so was in the market. Have 3 light meters now a 1 degree spot, a flash, and non-flash. All are old (over 20 years) and analog so was looking to upgrade them and going down to one should lighten my kit. The thing that tipped the scales is that (and I may be reading the brochures wrong) that the suite is reported to come with a coupon to get a free copy of X-rite MonacoEZcolor and X-rite has a coupon on their website http://www.xritephoto.com/product/optixxr/ (external link) for a free upgrade to MonacoOptixPro if you buy between APR1-MAY31 2006 so that's like $400 bucks of software for free.

I was eyeing that combo as well. The free software wasnt really worth ir IMO.. Not to mention, the kit does not come with the PRO version.

I bought the Optix XR and the L-358 instead. Very happy with the combo. The kit is a excellent combo tho. Well worth the $

That's why I was posting StealthLude. The coupon from X-Rite lets you get the upgrade to Pro version for free.

I think the kit is worth it if you want a L-558R

Other than that,... I dont think the Pro version really offers anything you really NEED. All my prints come from labs who supply me with profiles for printers.

Id get the kit if you want a L-558R, otherwise id buy it seperate and save a few bucks...
