Again, great work! Be careful again of white bal, but being a little warm for a reception is a good thing I think. Also you might consider more straight shots, some people don't like tilted, I like it but not for every shot.

Great work. What settings do you use for these (aperature, time, ISO flash?)

THanks

Thanks Del!!!

Tim - The tilted shots are all strictly artistic.......of course, there are more straight shots in the bunch.........but they just don't look as nice as the tilted ones........ :-)

Joanna - I was shooting back and forth between P, AV and M depending on the situation............I know that indoors, I use M and flash with the bounce card intact..........outdoors I use P mode as much as I can......and when I want to control DOF, then I use AV mode.......I never use TV mode (Hope this helps).

Thanks, when you use manual inside, what is your general time, iso, and aperature. I really like the warm feel to these photos.

Just a suggestion on this one - I find the lights at the top of the frame distracting, and they would be vdery easy to remove.

Nice work. Shot 4 ...is that natural light or a puff of off camera flash?

What ISO and settings do you use?

When I use manual (usually low lit situations)......I usually dial down my shutter speed as low as possible to make use of the ambient ligting without causing blur...........my AV is also 1/2 a stop higher than my widest aperture to get a bit of sharpness..........then I use my flash on ETTL. In terms of ISO, depending on how much lights I want, it usually jumps around 400 to 1600.......

I am loving it!!! The 1.3x crop factor really makes a difference on those wide angle shots........... :D And the bigger viewfinder helps too!!!

Ro1...these are great! Any alleged technical issues are mooted by the overall composition and warmth. Thanks for sharing. My question(s) for you are: which lens was used for each image?

I am strongly considering a smaller (than my 24-70L) lens for wedding/reception/event work and was leaning toward the 17-40...my only hesitation there is the f/4.0.

THANKS!!!

I absolutely adore my 17-40 f4. It is sharp even wide open that I don't have to worry so much what aperture it falls on.........It is also light....

If I have a 5D (or any full frame camera)......the 24-70 would probably replace it - but as of now, I am very happy with my 17-40........ Though I wouldn't mind replacing it with the 16-35 just to be able to go down to 2.8, but thats another $1300.........something I don't have at the moment.

Roanjohn, i just got done looking at all 3 of your posts. You did a very nice job. Most of your shots are very good and the ones that aren't are still good. Thanks for sharing.
