It is reading off of the camera via usb. HOWEVER, I can select the picture I want, but it is not giving me the option to convert and save.

Some will but you need to specify this in the preferences. Try copying the images to your HDD first then try again. Canons software is ok but I find it very limiting and if Adobe Camera Raw plugin is out of the question then you could try Raw Shooter Essentials 2006 from Pixmantec.

I'm not trying to convert the file on the CF, but rather Load them into the computer and conver and transfer..
