I figured I would post this just because it is one of my favorite tulips. I just can't seem to get a good, sharp, close up of it. I don't have a macro lens. This was taken with an older zoom that I had from my film camera. Does anyone know if just getting the close up filters for the XT lens kit would be a good start?

Hi Carol,
It's actually a good shot...The yellow teasing it's way through the pink...the great curl of the petals...the different angle you've taken...is it an Angelique? What sort of camera did you use?
I'd be pretty happy with this...and you're right, it's a great flower. Keen to see more...well done.:)

I like close-up filters 'cause they're easy to carry in a pocket. I wouldn't expect that your pics will be any sharper with them though. The opposite is likely to be true.
You just need to stop the lens down more, like f/16 instead of what you used here (maybe f/8?), use the DOF Preview button, & be sure that you've focused on the part of the bloom that you think needs to be sharpest.

That's a nice shot though & flowers are soft things, so I don't mind if part of them is OOF.

EDIT: Just posted these; Peach blossoms.

Thanks for the nice comments! I became hard on myself after I started looking at other peoples photos. I am not sure what kind of tulip it is but I wait for it to come up every year. I have a few of them now.
I took the photo with a Rebel XT with a 28-90mm zoom. Here is the info from the exif:
1/250, 90mm, F/6.3, ISO-200
If I stop down the lens more I will have to change the IS0 to 400. There is always a bit of a breeze out there moving the flowers. I went and took a photo this morning and stopped it down a bit to F/13 with an ISO of 400, 90mm, and 1/500. It did turn out sharper but the lighting isn't as nice. The photo is also a different angle. I was going to try again this afternoon for the same photo as yesterday but it has really gotten too windy out there. Anyway, I am posting this one as well.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks Marie & Reigh! I feel a lot better about them now after all the nice comments! I did take others that I may post in the future. You are all a big inspiration to a beginner like me!

These are great images, Don't be hard on yourself or you will fall into a trap of thinking that none of your shots are good, Which is not the case.

I like both of them. The flowers are lovely, and your photos are sharp enough for me.

Lovely and gentle colours, the twirling of the petals give the picture a different dimension.

Thanks everybody! It would be tough to take a bad photo of this flower. It is by the way an Angelique tulip for sure.
