Geez, Paul. The bird in image #1 really puffed up for image #2. That's great feather control. ;-)a

The pose in those first two images is good. The sharpness, color and bg look good. But I really miss the catch light in the eye. Makes a huge difference in an image, IMO. Was it overcast that day or was it just in the wrong position to catch the light?
Very colorful images of a bird we don't have out here. Thanks for posting them.
Would you mind posting the EXIF?

Nice shots Paul with the 3rd shot being my favourite, That image/look evokes the character I notice in these very entertaining birds. Makes me smile!:D
