Weird, creepy, unidentified (by me) fungus!

Anyone seen one of these before? I shot these with the on-camera flash while I was walking through a rainforest in the pitch black on my way to photograph a sunrise. My flashlight beam wandered off the track for a moment and I noticed these. They are about 18" wide and rock hard. Was worried the Big Bad Wolf might jump out from behind a tree while I got these shots too:D

Not seen fungus like this before, similar but not that big.

We get big ones like thatall the time up here where I live. Its a rainforest as well.

We call it "bear bread". I dont know the real name though...

When I was a kid we used to pick off ones that look like that, you could scratch pictures/writing on the white underside, the writing would turn brown. I think my Mom still has one I made her 35?40? years ago
