I think this is a rose breasted grosbeak? Unfortunately the shot is very poor. Thanks for your help !

No doubt about it - Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

I noticed your avitar - John James Audubon originally name our Cardinal the "Cardinal Grosbeak".

Nice shot too Chris, a little fill flash would have given you a bit more 'pop'. Lovely clean background and an attractive subject, Well done.

Thank you all for the kind words ! I called this a "poor shot" because I dont like the pose and there is no light to bring out details around his eye.Hopefully he will come back on a nice sunny day.

Did you try flash? It works better with fill flash on an overcast or even rainy day. If you don't have external flash unit, onboard flash it's ok too.

Don`t know what it is Chris but it sure looks good, the rain drops add to it.
A bit of detail on the face would help even more.
Good catch.

Excellent shot. The rain often intensfies the colours so they look more bold. Love the composition and bokeh. Well done.

Best regards

Sindri

I like the wet/saturated look of this ...one of my favourite summer birds. I would be quite happy with this shot with nice BG. Its nice to see they are on the move and I am looking forward to their return...I believe these guys fly at night during migration.
