I don't often get to see one of these birds.

that is so way better than mine from last week! I'm jealous that you could get that close.
And the snack always adds more interest.

Nice shot. These are some of my favorites when they are around. They seem to spook very easy, so getting close is a differcult task. Well done!

I love this photo too. Has a good quality to it and a bonus is the fish in the beak.

Nice capture here of the Heron on the hunt and I like the pose. I also like the angle with my only nit being the foreground vegetation that obscures the bird a bit... but at the same time I would be quite happy with a shot like this.

Too bad about the OOF grasses in the FG, but the shot works very well nonetheless! Great low angle...

Very nice capture, Zip. Sharp, good color and well exposed. It's "catch" has a tail like a bullfrog tadpole. Is that what it is or is it a fish with an unusual tail?

Thanks Gary and Dan. That's the cleanest shot I could get without going for a swim, water is still a little nippy for that.

That's what it is a bullfrog tadpole. If you look close you can see it's leg wrap around the heron's bill. Thanks Ron!

Also want to thank everyone for your kind words and taking the time to comment. Very much appreciated.

Excellent shot,. I love these birds.,and the lighting and shot you have really shows the color and detail on there wings and back that makes them look carved from slate.
