Was out last night in the woods by the creek and spotted a beaver and just started watching. After a few minutes it came within about 3 feet of me and acted like I was not even around. It was one of those "I wish I had my camera". Well today I went back and the beaver was sleeping on the bank. I went over and was able to get so close it let me pet it with a small stick. My 200mm would not even focus I was so close. Here is one of the images I was able to get.

Also took one of a frog that I seen.

I see what you mean by being close up. The beaver must have snarled when you petted it with a small stick, or was it just yawning recovering from a sleep. :)

Whatever it's a great shot. Well done.

The beaver was very sleepy and in fact was yawning when I took the picture. I guess the stick felt good because it just went right off to sleep again when I was stroking it's back. No agression at all. I just hope nothing was wrong with it as to me this does not sound like normal behavior. Wonder if it was a female and was expecting soon and just getting a lot of rest before the big day.

Great shot of that Beaver. Just be careful because they can really be nasty. We had one hear a few years back mall a 10 year old kid severley. It has happened more than once. When I photograph them and they start coming toward me, I get the hell out of there way.
