feels a bit over exposed, also I'd consider lightening up the eyes for more pop.

I don't mind. It looks much better.

I processed the photo in the prophoto colorspace and optimized for printing. It seems when I converted the picture to share on the web I lost somoe saturation.

I have not been to the Oakland Zoo. I did enjoy the SF Zoo. Last weekend there was no fog and the zoo was not too crowded.

A regal critter for sure. The image lacks contrast or saturation (I can't see the post with added saturation for some reason). The image also looks almost distorted. Like it was stretched or shrunk. Most noticeable in the face, between the eyes but then I don't see a lot of lions in my normal days travels.

Well on my monitor, the first image looks a tad undersaturated (if that's a real word) and BG's looks a tad overdone (sorry BG) but it might just be my monitor.

Technically I'm not an expert, but I can pass on a helpful tip I learned recently; If you think you may do more animal photography or zoo photography, get yourself a Monopod. They allow you to shoot slower speeds and wider apertures and get better bokeh in the background. You get much sharper images and they're fairly easy to lug around with your camera attached, and best of all, they're not too expensive. I love mine!
