I bought the 250D close-up filter a few weeks ago, and, the flowers/buds started to rear their heads this week. I've shot about 800 files with this and have a few observations:
(1) The AF at such close range is just average, nothing special. Maybe there is a setting to make it work better, but many of my images are not in focus. In general, the G6's focusing performance is decent but not overly good, probably not a lot better than a typical compact. The fast zoom does help.
(2) The macro range on the G6's lens is good, I'd say average. The 250D works very well and allows you to get quite close. I'd imagine the Pro 1's macro range looks to be better, from what I can see by photos on the Web.
(3) This type of shooting is very frustrating, but good results are thrilling to see!
