I need help finding what bird this is. I was in Africa last year and failed to put the name of the bird in my journa. Its black with the vivid red breast... take a look at the thorns in the tree too

The photo would be great if it wasn't for that thorny branch going right across the bird. The red really stands out from the washed out background.

As for the bird... I could swear to god I have seen images and names of these before... it just isn't coming. But for some reason Puffer comes to mind...

It looks like a red bishop to me. But it's difficult to tell, with the thorns obscuring.

I know what you mean about the branches. I took alot of pictures and they all had the branches in the way. This was the clearest one.
