Thanks freeze. Unfortunatley I don't have the color version anymore, I goofed and saved the sepia version over it, (good thing it was just a practice picture and not a customer!)

But really it wasn't that great in color, very bland.

I like the Sepia toning in #1, but the composition and the pose does not give me any message at all. The lighting is not bad. Exposure seems to be good.

In #2, I like the composition much better - nice lines and feeling of depth encouraged by what is in each part of the picture as well as the perspective (shooting at an angle with respect to the wall).

The problem here is lighting. Direct rays of the sun are the worst possible lighting, as it is too harsh.

Learn where to find Open Shade and use it to your advantange. Open Shade will be found on the North side of a structure or tree. Find an area in shade (no direct rays of sun on subject) where there is open sky above and surrounding as much as possible. Orient the subject for a three quarter view and looking to the North.
