Anthony,i think EV +1/3 would be better, not very good detail recorded on the whites, too bright.
Even better still,raw.
Lovely colours and nicely blured bg though.

Thanks for the tip. Next time I'll try EV at +1/3

Dimitri can correct me but I think he meant -1/3. Adding +1/3 or more exposure compensation will only lighten the shot more and increase the loss of details.I would reduce the exposure by compensating -1/3, -2/3 . Underexposing the whites would give you more detail in the flower and the background would improve too I think. I see you have Image Editing OK. some post processing can help a little ..I ran the shot through PS CS2...darkenned the shot in variations, reduced the saturation -20 in levels, burned the flower with a large soft brush ( large enough to cover most of each petal and then just 1 tap on the mouse), used a smaller brush to lightly burn the yellow on the outside center. Anthony..If you want I can remove the edited shot at your request.

No I love the the improved image.
Thanks for taking the time to improve my shot. And I have taken note of your good suggestions.
Now I can boast to my wife and tell her how good my image is. :D

QUOTED IMAGE

Sorry for not responding earlyer guys,i didn`t notice it.
Gary is right with his explanation and what he did to the image, however,i saw that the original was taken with EV +1 thats how i suggested that it would look better with +1/3,and even as Gary said...-1/3.
I would rather shoot it in raw though, and choose the best expossure that goes with the flower.
You might find out that this flower would look even better if it was a bit underexpossed (wich would darken down the bg).
Something like this...
