Hard to say - could possibly be a Reed Bunting - where did you photograph it?

Manchester , near sale water park.
It's the eye marking that throws me off.

Would guess at some sort of Warbler ? Then again it may be a Wheatear. Don`t think the beak is right for a Reed Bunting.

Hard to say with the focus but looks like it could be a sedge warbler. Did you get any other shots?

The whiting above the eye, tends me to think that it is a sedge warbler too.

The wings look very like those of a reed bunting, the bill looks right, and it appears to be nest building in reeds.

I think you've caught a female reed bunting, with a more 'male like' head. According to the Collin's bird guide this does happen.

Regarding the apparent white over the eye - I don't know. Rustic buntings do have almost identical head markings to what number one seems to show, but they are a rarity in the uk, and the wing and back markings are wrong. On the other hand, the white over the eye could be a bit of reed mace (bull rush) fluff.

Don't procrastinate if you can put it off 'til tomorrow!

I think you guys are right, I was looking at the Collins British wildlife book for reference, but it really didn't match the head marking in the book.

Thank you all for your effort.

The 'v' tail is and the pattern on the back is a giveaway.
