I really like the CF4-1 feature where you can set your focus with the * button on the 30D.
Can you do this with the G6?

The focus will remain the same as long as the manual focus is in effect provided you do not move the focusing ring. You can not use manual focus in AUTO mode and the procedure described dos not work in continuous focus. I am almost sure that you can store the manual focus setting in C1 or C2 modes and that both the zoom and focus settings of the lens will be the same in the next power-up. Perhaps the G6 allows a similar procedure to lock the focus setting. rafael

Thanks Refael, I tried that and it does work. The shutter button on the 30D has spoiled me and after using it the button on the G6 seems harder to find the 1/2 way point and I end up shooting before I am ready. The focus with the * button just seems more logical after using it. I will probably store the manual focus setting in C1 as you illustrated above. 1D MKIIN 30D 20D and G6
