Kev, 1/50 is good going, I love panning shots, really shows the skill of the user IMO, not just how good their equipment is or how close they managed to get etc, and makes the shots look great too :)

OK, leaving aside my by now notorious dislike for pan shots ;) … and let me say, by the way, that you seem to have mastered the pan technique quite well…

#1 I’ve looked at on a few monitors including two calibrated ones and I lose the detail from the bottom of the sill of the Healy to the track. The shadow is such that the car appears to merge completely with the track surface. I think you either needed to get lower, shoot from a different angle to get better lighting or try and take the levels up a little in post processing. Well done at getting two cars in the shot which adds to the interest.

#2 Definitely my favourite of this group of 3. A very pretty car, a nice low angle so you can see underneath it and the background has some interest from the marshal post. It does appear a touch over-sharpened (JPEG jagged edge artifacting along some surfaces) or perhaps that came in as a result of your resizing technique?

#3 I like the trees in the background and the overall composition of the shot. It appears a little back-focused or at least the Escort seems to have grabbed focus more than the Healy. Once again it looks a little under-exposed but top marks for having two cars in the frame and showing racing.

A nice set of 3 shots, thanks for posing them.

Thanks for the comments and tips Cadwell:) , I know pan shots are not everyones favourite, but i'm pretty new to motorsport photography (March) and want to learn different type of shots etc. Any tips on how to improve my photo's are very welcome indeed. Next chance i get i will try and use the tips you suggest. What is the best way to resize a picture using Paint Shop Pro, to avoid the jagged edge artifacting if you don't mind me asking? Still learning processing too:o

Cheers for the comments Petrolhead.:) Here are the other settings
Exposure Time = 1/50"
F Number = F32
Exposure Program = Shutter priority
ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Focal Length = 76mm

Nice shots. Looks like you have that panning down. You ever shoot slower than 1/50th, for panning that is?
