saqib. You either forgot to add the link to your externally hosted photo, or you've had problems when trying to upload it. Could you try again please as I would be interested to see it as I'm driving round Germany later this week and will be going through Frankfurt next week.

I've pasted the link to your actual photo. :) The boulevard looks nice, what is the rest of the park like?

What a pretty avenue - the perspective makes it look neverending.

Well when I was there, they had some construction going on at one end - the whole 'park' is walkable, and a pretty nice and long walk it is - very serene. It's not a park per se, but just some greenery to go along the river. It is also a great vantage point if you wanna do some sunrise or sunset (as below) pictures - you just need to get out at a good time to do it (it took me maybe 30-40 miinutes to walk to this point - I left it too late as the sun was already up but if you go out then give yourself an extra hour or so).

Other things to do there is to go up the observation deck, take the bus tour and it should be included in this. Or do what I did - go late at night and take your tripod - you can have a go at the panorama I tried (I did it in winter so a lot of mist from buildings and mouths). FOR SURE go to the Palmen Garten - it's a bit of a walk but worth it - and DEFINATELY take your camera!! The day I went it was kinda dull, but it was still really nice if you like wildlife (or even if you don't - and I am not crazy about it) and sceneries/peaceful areas.

Rudge where will you be staying? Are you travelling alone? Reason I ask is that I got a hotel room opposite the main railway station for three people - was a four star and pretty good price - I booked at swoosh.com.

Sundays the whole place is dead aside from food shops and restaurants. The prices in general are comparable if not slightly more than here. Saturdays there is a market right along the Reine - you will see some interesting characters if not interested in shopping (I have uploaded a pic of one guy - Far Eastern origin - who thought he was a rocker!)

The boulevard shot is very well composed. Good work.

Thanks for the reply saqib. I'm actually going round Germany with JLP9639, and we have some accomodation already booked (Koblenz, Fussen, Koln). We're staying in Fussen for three nights in order to give us some chance of seeing south Germany, and then driving up Die Romantische Strasse. At the end of that, and on Thursday 18th, we'll be passing through Frankfurt on the way to Koln where we booked a place before getting the ferry back home the next day from Ijmuiden in the Netherlands. Unfortunately this means that we will only have a few hours in Frankfurt, so one thought was to get onto the viewing platforms of some of the skyscrapers for "aerial" city shots.

Elisabeth-Ann and Sparker - thanks!

Oh wow Scots travelling to Germany - cheap beer and Scots...*shudder* (I live in Glasgow, worked in A&E hence I have some experience of this). Well stay safe. I would do the skyscraper shot for sure, but if you have enough time really try to take the bus tour - the viewing platform is included I am pretty sure.

Germany will be safe as neither of us drink much anyway. If you live in Glasgow, then how about clicking the link in my sig? ;)

oh geez if only I had the time!

My shift patterns suck. next week i am on 0900-2100 monday, 0900-1700 tuesday-sunday (which means I leave at 18-1900ish), then 1600-2400 next week. sucks. And that's an average fortnight.

I'll see what my rota is like in june and let you know eh?

That's a shame. Still if you happen to get lucky with your shifts, then you are more than welcome to come along. :)
