Just another Moon shot

I have only tried a few moon shots. Followed the obvious advice - tripod , remote release , mirror lockup..got some ok shots , but I only have a 400mm lens , no tc..
This is my best so far, was driving home in the country this evening , thought I would try the "clear air" advantage - used a beanbag on the roof of the car , no mirror lockup, traffic going past at highway speed a few feet from the car..

Looks like the pic didn't make it..

Hell, I'd be happy to get shots like this with the setup you describe.

I go the long route (tripod, mirror lockup, etc) and still I'm challenged to get something this good.

I agree with Steve on both counts.

It never ceases to amaze me how moon pics are always so dramatic!. Great sharp pic. Well done!

I was a bit tired when I processed that one and looking at it again it was not that good , had another go and got some more detail with lower brightness.
