I thought I was done with equipment too, but lately my Tamron hasn't been focusing as consistently as I want (ie 100%). I'm going to have to get rid of it and get the 24-70L, which I tried last night. It's heavy, the zoom works the wrong way, and my very ad-hoc test shots don't show it any sharper than the tamron, but I think I need to get it anyway. Also the 30mm F1.4 is calling me...

Remember equipment is a means to an end, a tool. Have the best equipment you can afford, learn to use it, then forget about it.

He's cost me money, too, and after this last post, I can feel my wallet getting even lighter.

I need to stop listening to you for a while as I REALLY want to get the 70-200/2.8 IS and after buying all the other stuff its going to be a while before I can afford this Pricetag is quite high with an average of $1300 for a lens

IMHO for wedding photography the 70-200 IS is a useful lens to have, and one I use regularly at receptions so I can stay out of the way, but it's not essential. If you don't have it just stand closer.
