Well it was only recently that maps of NZ stopped having the legend "Here be Dragons" for anything south of the Bombays.

The Vodka is good and cheap. :)

And especially good value now I see how it's really made down in Sydney, New Zealand.

I had the most irresistible reccomendation. I have a friend who shoots wedding and travel photography. Plus some magazine photography. He reccomends buying an ipod photo and a camera attachment to take with you to weddings. When I was an assistant I saw my boss run out of memory a couple of times and I had to shoot while she ran back to the house to download her pictures and come back. So when I went to Baton Rouge to shoot, I purchased and used my 60 gig to download my pictures and then I could keep shooting. Works so incredibly well that I urge you to buy an ipod instead of stack of memory cards.
Now when I travel I don't need to portion my shots. I can shoot 2000 pictures and not think twice. Plus its an ipod, you can put music on it, and carry around some sample shots in case you meet potential clients. Now if I could only figure out how to put my proshow slide shows on there...

Sounds like an evil Apple employee puching a sell.....besides, It doesn't work that great. Been there, done that.....never again. 1gb cards are so cheap now. I can shoot 6000 pictures and still have 1gb cards left over!!

Besides, what's this have to do with TIM??

Yeah, come on, let's keep the thead on topic ABOUT ME! ;)

I've also heard there are better solutions than an iPod. There's a massive thread about them in the accessories forum, could be a year old now, the market hasn't changed a lot since then.

Ask any event/wedding photographer - you eventually drop stuff - what happens when you drop your ipod and now all your images are gone! I'll stick to CF cards - Sorry Tim - continue!

You talking abut me Andy? Huh bud? My 35L comes back from Canon service today good as new!

However, I agree that it's pretty foolish to dump then re-use cards. Memory is cheap, buy enough cards to cover an entire wedding. If you want to BU on site, that's fine, but don't format the cards until you have multiple BU's...

Losing someone's wedding images, however, might be an expensive mistake indeed!

Speaking of dumping cards.... the VERY first thing I do when I'm done with a wedding is DL my cards (at home) and then before I even look at them on the PC I burn a master DVD which goes in my clients folder inside a fire safe. This is FAIL PROOF!!
I've actually lost more hard drives then I've had problems with CF cards. Luckily, I was able to recover my HD's both times though but if I couldn't have, I had DVD's in the safe.

You're one of many I've heard describe their gears inevitable fate in the losing battle with gravity - after all what goes up. . . . we can't always control how it comes down. In addition to all the people who I know dropped their ipod with only music being lost. . . . scary thought. . .

Buts it good to hear your second baby's on its way home, I hope all is well and I look forward to hearing confirmation.
