Went out to Sanibel Island yesterday with the wife and kids for a day at the beach. Low and behold at about 1PM, my daughter suggested we drive through Ding Darling. (Florida afternoon sun is not what you want to be shooting under...just too too bright and contrasty)...and as luck would have it, I spotted this Reddish Egret very close to the shore. I took quite a few shots with him in the overhead sun and here is one of the better captures. I will take a ride back one early morning this week at low tide in an attempt to get some better lighting. (Full frame)

Any comments welcome and appreciated!

Excellent shot Keith. You did very well under difficult lighting situation. Beautiful capture. Sharp with good details. Love the colours and BG. Like the composition. Brilliant work as always. :-)

Best regards

I think it's a good head and shoulders shot. I love the details in the feathers and it's of excellent colour.

Under the circumstances you managed a very nice shot here. Color and detail look good and the BG is great and then there is the subject:D

An excellent capture Keith and a fantastic looking subject also. Given the conditions you were shooting under a very fine job indeed mate.

Cheers Wayne :D

Thanks all for the comments. I hope to get back there during the early morning as the lighting is usually spectacular. Thanks again.

Excellent shot, Keith, especially under the circumstances. Not many of those birds around, at least not in my travels.

I've only seen them at Ding Darling NWP. I have heard that they are also at Estero Lagoon in Fort Myers. I have yet to visit Estero, but it is on my list of places.
