Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonssøn Quisling (July 18, 1887–October 24, 1945) was a Norwegian fascist politician and officer. He held the office of Minister President in occupied Norway from February 1942 to the end of World War II, while the elected social democratic cabinet of Johan Nygaardsvold was exiled in London.

Under the occupation Quisling was responsible for ordering the deaths of many Norwegian Patriots who fought in the resistence movement.

This momument marks the place where they were brought before the firing squad and executed. It lays within the walls of the Akershus Castle, the final resting place of the Norwegian Royalty.

On April 8th 1945 the **** Occupation of Norway officially ended. Quisling was then tried for his crimes against his country and countrymen. He was found guilty and taken back to the same spot where he had ended the lives of his fellow Norwegians, and there he also faced the firing squad.

The inscription on the momument reads "They Fought, They Fell, The Gave Us Everything"

[Edit: the word filter didnt seem to like the N word that describes the political style that was dominant in Germany during WW2 - but Im sure you all can figure it out..]

I love how the rocks lead to the headstones. Great lighting!

As a result of his actions, the word quisling came into common usage amongst people of my parents generation.

I have often wondered about the word - and now I have read about it. Thank you.

Its still used here with the generations older than I am - its a horrible insult to use against someone, understandably so.
