Shot in the Serengeti in Feb 2006. Just processed it last week. Didn't like how it looked in colour at 6*4 so converted it and cropped to 20*8.

On my monitor looks like it needs some contrast. Need some white no much gray. Nice shot.

Seefutlung: I might play with that.

Snoozle: Thanks. No cloning at all in this one. We were the only truck in the area at the time. In fact we were the only people sleeping in the southwest corner of the entire park that week. Given the strict rules, you very rarely see trucks off of the trucks in Tanzania. Only film crews with the correct license are allowed off-track.

That sounds good, I'll admit that my experience of Tanzania are limited to 24 hours in Serengeti & a couple of trips to Ngorogoro. Great experiences, but I think I saw as many jeeps as wildlife.

I had a look at your Tanzanian web pages, and you certainly got some great images.

Thanks folks. Ngorongoro is a easy way to see animals but being so "small", you do see lots of people. Our afternoon in the crater saw 15-20 trucks watching a single Cheetah.

Great shot. I may drag out some of my Africa shots and try B&W on them. Yeah the crater can get crowded at times.

Here's what I did:

Levels
Highlights and shadows
Sharpened two layers (75% opac dark and 75% opac light)
Applied a deep red filter.
Slight Contrast boost
Channels (monochrome) and played with RGB. I focused on the two Elephants on the left.
I ran a 50% opac burn over the sky.

The border came later when I saw how the shot looked on my laptop as the wallpaper with a black desktop. It's given it a widescreen look.

Very nice shot indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing the background in b/w and the elephants in color. I know elephants are grey anyway, but with the dust and dirt on them, it may make them "pop" just a little more. Most people don't care for that effect, but I tend to like them.
