NOTE: This is NOT my auction. Just throwing it out there for "oohs" and "aahs"

And that is NOT a typo on the aperture. :D

I don't know... I love shooting available light perhaps more than many - but I don't even want it. Not only is it too expensive for what it is, the image quality just isn't there.

It's more of a collector's item, IMO.

So for now, still patiently waiting for Canon's EF 50mm f/1.2L USM. ;)

Wow that is way too much for a .4 f stop difference IMO. I'll take the 50mm 1.4f and a couple of L glass for that price.

They seem to go for about US $ 3000 most of the time. Looks like a 'Keg Lite' doesn't it?
It's a pity they don't make them any more, when this was available the term bokeh wasn't being used. Instead they talked about ' isolating your subject from the background with artistic blur...'

its not .4 aperture, its double the light... unless I got my aperture table wrong :-S

If you have the cash for it, and use it a lot, it worth it!

Too much for my blood. I don't use my 50mm 1.8f enough and its a great lens. This lens for most people would be pure bragging rights. Bragging rights that they know what a 1.0F can do, and we don't (unless we've owned or own it).

P.S. I bought my car of my neighbor's son for $60! Thats less then the Nifty Fifty! (it works, they were just junking it because they bought a new one and that's what the junk yard would have given them.)

That's the real shame of it, though. At f/1.0 it's really not that great.

Yup, it's one lens that they really didn't build or design right. I think they produced it just to say that they have a f1.0 lens.

That said, there is a Canon 50mm f0.95 lens for rangefinders. It does have less than positive reviews though, especially when compared to the Noctilux f1.0

Yep, it's one full stop faster than the 1.4......i.e. twice the light (1, 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8........).

Even so, I don't think I'll be bidding on this fat boy. If I did buy it you can bet Canon would come out with a new and improved 50mm about two days later.
