I think it is pretty cool that Jjeangle is prepared to invest the time and the money to try to make a cool thing even cooler.
Perhaps it was done a little eingle handedly without discussing with others. I agree that he has some pretty cool ideas.

I would love it if there was a central database with all photos on it. Browsing through the old images is fun.

Currently I am uploading the images to my website, and linking them here. Possibly not a good idea as someday I'll need the space and will delete the images and they will be gone for others.

Something like Flickr that is available to everyone and link the pictures here might be a good solution

I want to chip in here, when people talk about, investing time, money, and "re-organisation" of this and that....

Clearly something must be working if this thread has been lasting for 5 years, and that people cough up and donate lenses when one breaks. That is a testament to those who have been running this thread since it's conception - and so far we have had no complaints.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Ideas are good, but that is all that they can be, ideas. Not everyone wants a central database for photos, not everyone has the time to do all their photos, fix them, upload them etc. Not everyone wants to fill out forms, have to get a flickr site etc. This is just a thread of passing a lens, taking photos, sharing what you want to share and pass things along.

The banter, and questions on this thread makes it what it is. As soon as you have a photo site, you talk less and stare at the photos more which usually results in killing off a thread.

Personally, I'd say leave it be, and as Joanye said - if you want to set up and do your own thing, you are entitled to. I'll just stick to how this is.

AGREED. i really did think the thread was "dead" after i subscribed to it a week ago and now i can see that there are people dedicated to keeping this one alive. I dont plan on changing any part of this thread, but i will continue to keep the website up and maybe start one if there are enough people interested in it.

I do like the community here and that is why i am still here and like to get feed back from you guys. Anyways, lets keep this thread going with some more shots from nifty.

Can Nifty make a swing through Canada? I know there were issues getting across the border but I have a way to take care of that.

If it's OK, maybe a couple of other Canadians would like to get in line with me.

Give the next on the list a couple of days, as some members only access POTN on week-ends.. If you don't get an answer move to the next on the list and we can move the name down.. ... and as in the past if no answer delete the name..

I've PM'd him also, he is an active member with recent posts.. So is the next member. :D

Thanks..

Geno.. I have no doubt that you have "your ways" of dealing with the Canadian border crossings...I don't think it is fair to derail the list, so add your name to the US side and get some more Canucks to follow you and we will take the chance

That's what I was thinking. Once one or two show interest I'll add all the names.

Not just murdered, but held for ransom, visciously brutalized then murdered and turned away.. It was brutal

There is no "going postal" in Canada. The workers are strongly unionized. :)

I'm glad I had Nifty before it became so popular. I think I had it 4 years ago or longer than that.
