I am game. Sign me up. :D

Shall do. We'll give it a couple of weeks and see if anyone else in Canada wants to participate then I'll add our names as a block.

Any other Northerners?

Hauptbahnhoff.

them's great Peter, all we get in our end of the world is boring box-like stations. Possibly something to do with the budget spent...

Munich has some really beautiful Underground stations.
Only problem is you need a permit to photograph them.

I got caught once & had to go with the police & give all my details.

Actually the permit is not difficult to get.

News:

Euro nifty underwent a 2 hour operation yesterday and is doing well.

Here are some photos of the operation.
Warning NSFW!
(Naked Nifties are clearly visible)

Appologies for the quality,
But I took these using available light.
Also with a 50 mm so I could post here.

1. Undo the 2 screws and push the contacts into the lens.
Then using a lever, pry the base of the lens off.

2. Looking in from the top.

3. Firstly push from the inside, then pry the side off. This is only held by double sided sticky tape.

4. Looking in from the side.
Undo the screw, and remove the metal bit. With this removed you can turn the focus ring further than normal and remove the outer housing.

5. Nifty Fully naked!

6. And this is what was causing the problems.

This plastic bit was broken off and jamming the mechanism.
It is the part that moves the inner focusing mechanism in or out when the focus ring is turned.

I spent ages trying to find a way to re-attach this, but it didn't seem to fit exactly, so I couldn't glue it.
As there are 2 of these, one on each side, and the other one is still attached, I have taken this one out.

8. So. I then put her back together.
Here she is looking normal again with all the tools I used.

9. And the first test shots to see if it worked.

Conclusion.
She works fine, however is probably now a little more fragile than she was, so care needs to be taken with the end lens tube. I certainly won't be putting my camera down on its front.

I have sent a PM and E-mail to BouncingRing that nifty is ready to move on.

Well, as I had her when she broke, it is my responsibility to at lest try to fix it. And it has taken me a while to get the job finished.
