Light Ship

The Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour has a old Lighthouse Ship anchored there.

The CLS 4 Carpentaria (Commonwealth Light Ship #4) was in service from 1917 - 1985.

Ironically it was retired from service as it was a shipping hazard when it was located in Bass Straight, the seas between mainland Australia and our island state of Tasmania.

The light was powered by a six-month supply of acetylene gas held in tanks.

Austen.

(Yes, it is that red, and yes the windows / doors in the wharf building behind DO have that red cast !!)

Love the Rhino. It's part of an art trail to raise money.
There are 85 of them around Sydney. http://taronga.org.au/wild-rhinos/trail-map (external link)
Very similar to the Gromit's I took photos of in Bristol.
They will be auctioned off in May.

Wonderful to see pictures from down under again!
I love the Rhino too. It immediately made me think of the Gromits.
Very cool.

You're going to be busy!

and I concur, the Opera House is an AMAZING building.. I actually got to see an opera rehearsal in the main house and saw another rehearsal of organ music in a smaller house.. Fantastic tour all in all!

Next station is St.-Quirin-Platz.
The Station St.-Quirin-Platz is architecturally unique and also unusual for the Munich subway, since it is open on one side with a big "eye" towards the green area "Am Hohen Weg". It has an elaborate shell-shaped roof structure with glass arches. It was planned by the Metro Unit in conjunction with the office Hermann + Öttl.
The station was opened on 8. November 1997 in conjunction with the extending of the U1 line.

The second imagehere was an HDR as there was a HUGE difference between the dark and light areas.
