It's amazing what I forget to take out of my pockets.

That roll of tape was in my pocket twice now. We're finishing up a unit tonight and that roll may be going bye bye... It's amazing how much tape we use. We use it to hold bundles of wire together at the ends to run it through conduit. Most of the wiring is at different lengths so tape has to be adhered to keep he wires from straying away from the conduit when it goes in.

So figure 6 to 8 different sets / lengths of wire all connecting into one AC panel or a DC distribution box going to different places.

Last night I took the AC panel wires that we ran the night before and ran them to the AC panel through a 2" piece of conduit. There had to be about 20 14AWG, 3 10AWG and maybe 6 or 9 12 AWG wires in one tube.

I was going to go outside and figure out what I was going to do with an existing shed in my back yard that is collapsing. Rain has changed that plan today. It's kind of yucky out there for a camera with a cheap plastic lens (sorry Nifty). My plan this spring/summer is to build a new workshop. I'll probably get pictures of that project along the way. But Nifty may be long gone when that's complete. I'll use other lenses though to document my work.

Took a quick step out on the deck for this shot. I'll get close ups of everything when the weather clears up but as you can see I have a LOT of work to do just for prep.

That whole structure is coming down. There's an attached tool shop on the back side that has completely collapsed. I can probably pull the entire structure down bit by bit with my truck and burn the remains but I'll need to clean that structure out first.

I may cut down a couple of those trees as well. I think there are 5 growing together in the back there on the left side. The previous owner wasn't paying attention to the seedlings outside his tool room door and they ended up growing too big for him to worry about. Now look... It's my problem now.

There are some good concrete slabs there I can build my new shop on. I may add some more cement to that as well. We'll see when I get it all torn down.

I'm thinking about setting up a tripod at the spot where I took this photo and doing a time lapse of the clean up and the tear down. Could make for a cool time lapse video maybe.

You may have noticed the remains of a garage door track. There used to be a shop sitting on the concrete pad. When I moved in the garage portion was getting ready to fall. I stood inside of it after I moved in and could hear the wood creaking, the roof was already collapsing (flat roof with TONS of leaves on it). Since my daughter at the time was only 6 years old I felt the smart thing to do would be to tear down that part of the building (which wasn't hard to do since it was poorly constructed in the first place) to keep her safe while she was playing outside.

Here's another shot of the things I use at work. Just more of it... (that I just happen to have at home). I need to take some of this back with me to work tonight. The meter is actually mine but the rest came from work. Without the meter there's probably $10 worth of stuff there...

I used to have a little divider case at work where I could keep all of that little stuff like screws, nut-certs, electrical contacts, drill bits, washers, etc. In June of last year they made us all take our tool boxes home because they were going to supply tools for us. The divider was on my list but I never got one along with a few other tools.

Rain has stopped for now. I went outside and took a few snapshots of the shed I need to tear down.

You can kind of get a glimpse of the roof caving in here.

Looks a bit like my place about 16 years ago. I can relate to the project you have before you. When I first moved here we had three different sheds on the property. One chicken coop, one "greenhouse" of sorts, and the "pump house" next to the well. I attacked the "greenhouse" with a chain saw and hauled the pieces off to the landfill. The 6' x 8' chicken coop was a different matter. The siding was clear, tongue and groove, 1"x 6"old growth redwood. I couldn't believe someone would use that beautiful wood for a chicken coop. The pump house got new siding and a new roof. It took most of the summer and was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

Good luck with your project!

Tim

Your sheds are even worse than the shanty town of sheds we got when we bought our house.
We had a row of three in varying sizes.
The builders had to knock them down with the digger and then take up all the concrete under them.

I recognize the craftsmanship that went into that shed. Clearly the work of the "Good Enough Construction Company" :-D

Part of it that is still standing doesn't have any 2 x 4 supports on the back wall. I'm surprised it's still standing.

We call it {the last name of the person who put it up} Construction.

We got the property and all that went with it from my father in law. We bought a home and had his old home removed. The rest was our responsibility.

We also had a chicken coop but we tried to convert it to a green house. There are too many trees here to actually grow things in it but we will try taking out a few of those trees and see if we can get something growing in that chicken coop later.

YIKES!!! I've been sicker than a dog these last few days due to a bladder infection. My temperature doesn't want to normalize at all. I'm on antibiotics. The weather here hasn't been the best to go outside and do anything really. We had snow flurries the other day while I was at the doctors office. I didn't have Nifty or my camera with me at the time. Wasn't expecting the flurries. It only lasted about 20 minutes so no real accumulation but it looked neat. I did catch a couple with my phone but it's not a nifty. :)

Hopefully I'll get better and be able to get out and shoot a bit before I pass it along.

Sorry to hear that you're not well. Bladder infections are horrid! Get well soon. :-)

I'm feeling better. I felt like getting out and doing some more cleaning up in the shop. I figured I'd pull all of the electrical down and get the things I'm planning to keep in the other room temporarily.

I'm keeping these. Although those tires wont hold air, they'll hold inner tubes. I have a set on my lawn mower with tubes in them. Works great BTW.

There's some of the stuff I'm keeping. Oil change stuff and a couple other things.

Such a shame... My Brother in laws shop manuals. These are on the shelf in the back room which I mentioned has collapsed.

That's what's happening to the wood floor going into the back collapsed room. All the wood flooring is very soft and will have to be pulled up. The concrete is still good. Covered in leaves but still in good shape.

Some of the shotty electrical work that looks a little scary. Power was running through those wires at one point. Yes, that's the end of a drop cord that was cut and wired into a box which also had a light hooked in with it.

IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/D9sk3r (external link) IMG_9743 (external link) by CameraMan (external link), on Flickr

...Even more scarier, this was wired directly into the AC service panel. I guess it works well in theory but I've never heard of this before... Oh, and that plug hanging off to the left side there, ran to another outlet... YIKES!!!

This is the temporary storage room (note the wonderful job they did on the studs... YEAH... WHAT STUDS!?!?!). I'm planning on pulling out that firewood and putting it in my firewood rack. Probably next weekend. I need to make sure there are no rattle snakes living in that pile of wood. I'll probably carefully throw a chain around the pallet the wood is on and drag it out of there with my truck.

And last but CERTAINLY not least, This is what I'll be hauling to the dump on Monday. My regular trash bin is already full so I'll have to dump this myself.
