I just spoke with Ron Bailey. He has moved to Austin and left Nifty behind with his friend in Hawaii.

Paul

Really? Did he give any reason as to why he left Nifty behind with his friend? Does he maybe think Nifty is his to do with as he pleases?

What is wrong with these people?! vmad

He did say his friend was "going to fire it off" and then mentioned something about "being on Hawaii time" ... that's when I thanked him for his time. I'm not a big fan of getting jerked around and the double speak was getting deep.

Bottom line is he couldn't care less.

Amazing.
And this is just about a cheap little lens.
I dread the thought of people like this having some serious responsibilities...

It's true that the Nifties are not that expensive, since I purchased most of them!
It's the fact that other people are relying on each host, to do the best they can with the Nifty.
Show us around, what makes where you live special, share. Then care enough to know that
others are waiting to host. It often seems that those who complain the most, seem to do the least.

I knew that Ron had given Nifty to someone to put in the mail.
It isn't easy to put things in the post where he was living. There is no house to house delivery.
We may have lost that one... vmad

I'm on the list to get one, but I do already have a 50mm stm.. maybe I just take pictures with that and post? Or I can get/shoot/ship the 50mm that is traveling, whatever works.

One wonders why he didn't simply take it with him to Austin then and send it on from there? It's not like a Nifty takes up a lot of space in one's bag...

He was ill and thought it would speed up the process to give it to someone who was more mobile.

That's OK. I will send it to ksbal either this week or next week. This crazy schedule I was only supposed to be on for a couple weeks has turned into a month to couple month excursion. I was not expecting that to happen. I may put myself on the bottom of the list again after I've sent it on and hope that I have more time to spend with it next time.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

would that be in cornwall park in auckland?

btw, hi all, I haven't been posting on the forum for a while now. I'll probably be posting more this year, as half of it will be travelling + photograpy instead of work work work :)

Yes indeed - my favourite local park (especially in winter when it gets fewer people)
I know what you mean about work, gets quite frustrating at times that even though you're out & about, you don't have time to stop & enjoy the view far less photograph it.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

Got a new toy today. I plan on using it for a Bodyscape shoot I have coming up here in a couple weeks.

A quick little sample shooting with the new softbox. I tested it with my cheap little studio light but I like the fact that it's not so bright. I might actually bring it to the shoot along with my more professional studio lights.
