Just a small square just around the corner from where I live. I don't think the pic reflects it, but it's real pretty and lovely on warm Summer nights.

We had showers, it was chilly but some people won't give in to it and stay optimistic. Even if it means risking a cold...

The city itself is also quite optimistic as fountains were spouting water on more than one square. Here's a close-up of one such water spouting thingy.

Who said you needed a telelens to shoot birds?

Doesn't that bird scene look nice? Well, the Heron was looking for a snack there! He sits there for one reason, to snatch the little ones from a Mallard hen. I had no idea there was a Mallard family down below with the tiniest of chicks. They must have hatched just yesterday, that's how tiny they were. But the Heron knew all too well they were there. After taking the pic, I turn to take pics of parents with children, I hear a big splash, turn around and off he flies with a baby Mallard in his beak! I was in horror. I knew of course that Herons do this, but I had never actually seen it. Of course I was too late to take a pic of it, it happened blazingly fast. Within 10 minutes the Heron was back for another snack. I have to say that I intervened. Which is really bad, because this is nature and I have no business interfering, but I did. I went and sat on the corner where the Heron is standing in the pic, thus positioning myself between it and the Mallard family. And I swear, the mother hen knew what I was doing. She looked at me and then took her little troupe the other way, knowing I had her back. It sounds ridiculous, but that's how it felt.
Here's the mother hen with her remaining 6 very tiny chicks. She's yapping at the Heron but she is no match for the big bird who is just outside the frame.

Those are really nice, Kevin. The church window is beautiful. IQ of your pics is a great deal better than mine. I need some light!

Thanks very much, Savethemoment. Hopefully I will get a bit of light in the coming days and weeks as I was struggling yesterday.

Also, I need to adjust to that 50mm again, just like in my first tour of Nifty!

This is the kind of weather and light I'm dealing with at the moment: dark, gloomy with dark, grey skies. I lighted it up a bit in post. However, higher temps and some sun is expected in the days to come so hopefully I have some shots with blue skies for you in the coming week.

I didn't go out to shoot today. Here are two shots from yesterday, from the park. Fathers with their children, visiting the ducks.

LOL. Thank you very much, Clare!
And it took only 7 months to get him to send it to me.

I'll be taking Nifty out this weekend. Fingers crossed for some fair weather. I'm tired of the grey skies!

We have grey skies here too. Yesterday was dark grey, just like yours!

Yeah, our corner of the world isn't blessed too often with nice, sunny weather. Today we had a few moments of sunshine though.

I didn't go out to shoot with Nifty but took him with me to the supermarket, which happens to be located at the Harbour. I took a few shots but I don't like any of them. I did do a pano of 6 or 7 shots of one of the canals in the Harbour and that didn't turn out too bad. The sun was setting behind me and there wasn't much light left, but at least there's some colour in the sky...
