Hi from Nifty in Colorado. I ended up getting sick after my husband did, although not quite as severe as his. We are still trying to recover, this crud is hanging on for dear life. We are much better but don’t have a lot of energy for Nifty adventures yet. Please be patient, we still have a few things in mind. :-)

Take it easy, Lesley. Glad you're recovering and hope you'll be back to your normal self soon
Take care.

Hope you guys feel better soon, Lesley.

I had old Retired Nifty with me in the car this evening when I stopped to shoot this gnarly old oak tree. I pass this tree hundreds of times each year, but never stopped to shoot it before now.

Nifty in Colorado is not having a good summer! My husband coughed so hard on Friday that he fractured 2 ribs. The doctor says it takes 6 weeks to heal. Hubby is pretty miserable considering he's still coughing, or I should say, trying very hard not to cough. ugh. It may still be a while longer before Nifty sees any action. Even just riding in the car is uncomfortable for the guy. Sorry, folks!

No worries, Lesley, I'm sure you'll get out when you can.

Retired Nifty went to a 4th of July celebration at a local winery...

The Brats and ribs were on the grill when we arrived. Nifty was too busy enjoying the great smells and forgot to focus when I took a shot of the ribs on the grill. These old Retired Niftys just don't pay attention like they used to. :p

On the other hand, Nifty had no problem staying focused when we got to the wine. Go figure.

After everyone had a few glasses of wine, the fun began. What's better than water sports on a hot July day?

As you can see by the water and balloon debris on the ground, some teams didn't do so well.

At this point Retired Nifty, overwhelmed by all the excitement became rather cranky. So Nifty was retired for the day.

Good wine, good food, good friends, and good fun. What more can you ask for on a warm summer day?

Great shots, Tim!

Thank you, but I don't think they're all that great, just some snapshots of a fun afternoon in spite of old Nifty not cooperating at times.

I would not want a grill that big, but I was a *little* jealous of their ability to do two different temperatures (look at the thermostats) at the same time. Ribs on one side and the sausages on the other, both at their optimum cooking temperatures.

Performed a little maintenance on Retired Nifty yesterday and took him out this morning to the Petaluma Marsh to shoot some birds. The birds were all hiding, so we made do with shots of the Haystack railroad bridge, the local Sonoma-Marin commuter train, and some of the early morning rowers on the Petaluma River.

This bridge was acquired from Galveston, Texas. It was dismantled, moved to California, and re-assembled. It replaced an old turnstyle bridge.

The scullers were out early this morning.

Every half hour the commuter train rolled through.
