It's not for lack of trying on their part. They are constantly in my garden this time of year chowing down on the Amaranth.
They are sure you planted it for them..
How did you come to choose Amaranth as a home garden crop?

How did you come to choose Amaranth as a home garden crop? My wife is into grains, but it is mostly for the birds in the Fall. The bird population in wine country has a tough time finding insect food because of all the vineyard spraying. The grains are a great, easy to grow, alternative food source for the birds.

All I did was water and weed it in the Spring. We plant and grow other plants for butterflies. We also separate and gather some of the acorns for the local fawn rescue. They mash the acorns into food for the orphaned or injured fawns. This is a small sample of what I blew off the patio this morning with the leaf blower.

I'm big on bird feeding. ...and, it is a really beautiful crop. Looks like you get a really good yield in small footage. Thank you for sharing these photos..and with RN ![]() Good luck with the outages ![]() Now that the wind has calmed, the smoke outside is thick. It will clear out when the wind picks up tomorrow...just about the time they cut off our power again.

I am the Head Trustee at the Seagrave Observatory in Rhode Island. we have a 16" and 12" Meade SCT telescopes but our pride and joy is the 1878 Alvan Clark refractor. We open every clear Saturday night. Due to the size of the dome, 16' I wasn't able to get a full shot of it with Nifty, I used my 10-18 instead (at 10mm). I include it to show the scope itself. Nifty was good for the details. Current stable Canon 6D Mark II, 5D Classic, 90D,80D all w/ vertical grips, 10-20 EF-IS 35 f2 EF IS, 24-105L
