supposed to snow this afternoon and the squirrels and stocking up. Never see 2 on a bird feeder at once.

I shot this through my double pane Anderson window since if I opened it I would have scared them off.

In the early days (at least mine) I used all my film cameras with standard 50mm lenses, a large part of that was because the zooms were not that good. Today the Canon zoom lenses are really good, especially the "L" versions. Nifty is nifty because it takes me back to my feet are my zoom.
Of course in a case like this, there wasn't very much room.

Cleaning day for the 16" Meade LX200 telescope observatory at the Seagrave Observatory in North Scituate RI. This is my baby and I run it for most public open nights.

I love that Nifty is still making the rounds. Is it the same one from years past?

And that 1878 telescope is just beautiful.

Thank you, it is a 16" Meade LX200, about 4,000 mm focal length, does great close ups of the lunar craters.

I am head trustee at the observatory (www.theskyscrapers.org (external link)) and can use it any time I want (too bad I also like my sleep)

I am planning on getting more nifty shots this week, been busy at the observatory, working in the dome for 6-8 hours in 40 degree temps with no heat!

Too much traffic today and tomorrow to get down to Plymouth MA and Plymouth Rock so I went to a local square in Walpole where there is a statue of Lieut. Lewis (1663-1710) he has a Pilgrim style hat so it is very "thanksgivingy"

The town is "cleaning" up the pond where I do much of my bird photography. They are making the edges deeper by pulling out the old vegetation and limiting the reeds etc. I am not sure if this is going to be good for my shots. They already took out a really nice fallen tree that herons used to rest on. As they make it deeper the geese and swans will not have the easily accessible food

Looks like they are removing the grasses that swans eat...
I'm never sure if intervention by humans helps or hinders nature.

End of a long day of shooting, mostly with my 70-200 f/2.3, 100-400 L ISii and Sigma 150-600, but the sunset caused me to grab nifty

Only 8 inches of snow but I am tired of it already
