Nice to see a little sunshine. Nothing but dreary winter rain here this week and highs in the upper 50's.

In the middle of this weather we also have a mountain lion roaming around here at night. It killed one goat at a neighbor's place just across the road yesterday, and 2 sheep earlier this week about 1/4 mile down the road.

To paraphrase Forest Gump "and one day the snow was gone"

Yesterday, 5 inches of snow and 25 degrees, today 60 degrees and rain and the snow is all gone

After it rained all night, a beautiful morning got Retired Nifty to crawl out of his cave and take this shot.

Had to attend the Executive Board meeting for Seagrave Observatory, since it is winter and our ground conditions are not good we met at Brown Universities Ladd Observatory.

Ladd Observatory is an astronomical observatory at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.[2] Founded in 1891 it was primarily designed for student instruction and also research.[3] The facility operated a regional timekeeping service. It was responsible for the care and callibration of clocks on campus including one at Carrie Tower[4] and another that rang the class bell at University Hall. Meteorological observations were made there from the time the building opened using recording weather instruments
he primary telescope is a refractor with a 12-inch (300 mm) aperture objective and focal length of 15 feet (4.6 m). The lens was figured by John Brashear following the design of Charles S. Hastings. The crown glass was made by Mantois of Paris and the flint glass by the optical works at Jena in Germany.
