Ok we have a 70-200 f/4 best photo thread and we have a mixed 70-200 with extender best photo thread.

Since I am considering to get the 70-200 f/2.8 NON-IS I would like to see lots of photos shot with this lens so post You best photo with this lens.

Oh btw. please do not suggest a search on pbase. I know about that but that function is lousy.

Ok Tommy......since no has answered the call, I'll give you a couple. I moved up to this optic from the 70-200F4 and I found it a lot more useful!! Last month I traded it for a 200f2.8 prime, and while the prime was very very good, I think as far as IQ, I found little distinction between the two. The trade didn't work out (guy was uncomfortable with the cosmetics of my well-used 70-200F2.8!) so we traded back again!! I think I''ll keep it since it seems to be a tough sell in it's condition (cosmetically!!). Anyhow, it is a great optic, sharp, great contrast and colour, and it is sharp wide-open!! Here are a couple of shots of Julia taken recently.........all wide-open at f2.8 and at the long end (200mm). I tend to use it at the long end 90% of the time. You can't really go wrong with this lens or any of Canon's offerings in this focal length. They are all good!!

70-200f2.8 @ 200mm

This is my favorite lens next to my 600 f4. I contemplated getting the IS version but could not justify the extra 500.00 to 600.00 dollars. So far, I haven't regretted that decision.

Here's one more for your evaluation. Hope this helps. Some great examples already posted by another photographer.

Pete

Primarily, I shoot concerts.

"Best"? I dunno'; that's subjective, really. But this is one of my favorites:

It's Tim Flannery (former San Diego player and coach) and the California Center For The Arts in Escondido. CA. The lighting was great, and the f/2.8 non-IS saw a lot of work that night!

Schmoelzel, yours are absolutely beautiful, especially the last portrait. I took mine with a 5 D. I love this camera but have noticed increased noise since downloading firmware version 1.05. I hope Canon addresses this issue with a new firmware update soon.

I'm not used to the 100 KB image file size for this forum. I'm looking forward to using this lens in the studio with my 5 D when my house is finally completed.

Ok I went and bought this lens today. :D

Hopefully I will get to the zoo tomorrow and test it good. A few quick testshots looks good.
