From silkworm to silkmoth

A friend of my mom's gave us about 70 silkworm eggs just as a little fun project. I took 4 of them up with me to college after they hatched.

Here they are at a little over 3 weeks

Cool. I think that I read that this is a completely domesticated insect. That is no wild counterpart that is remotely similar. Is this true?
