That's a perspective issue.
To photograph that which you love best would ultimately mean a lot of baby shots, I don't mind them either way. Have learned something from most too.
Are racing cars boring to a mother? likely.. would images of naked women be boring to a mother?.. likely.
This one for example has taught me a little about the temperament of an artist. :D
Live and let live mate.

Btw that dof is bang on the nail ;)

Thanks, I do fashion work professionally. I don't post them because they are my $$$. Whatever I do privately I post when I am bored.

I really like this Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AI-S so much better than the f/1.4 from canon. Now I just have to try 1 more 50 to make my final decision.

What is cool is that you can do this for a living yet still enjoy the same persuit in your free time.
This was something that bothered me, I made my first passion into a career which ultimately wrecked the enjoyment I got from it, after finding something else that excited me as much I was concerned same would happen again. Good sign for me this is.

I own the canon 50 1.4, so far I get great pleasure from using/abusing it. Now i'm a little happier doing things manually I will have to see about finding adapters to be able to try other brand lenses. My only other meagre experience in past has been with a couple of dodgy olympus lens's on a film SLR which wasn't in best of health.
I have to admit to snapping a lot of shots of my kids, they make very good practice targets on account of the speed they dart about at.

ooo...the Noctilux is the only one left that's faster, right? ooooo....

Anyway, cute shot. Never get tired of kid pics...but then that has made me a penny or two as well! (probably not as much as fashion! lol)

Yep, the Noctilux is the only one faster or the Canon 50mm f/1. If you ever looked at the MTF chart for the Nikkor f/1.2 vs the Noctilux and the 50mm f/1, you'll see that it is TOTALLY worth to get the Nikkor f/1.2

I just need to find a 50mm MTF for the Zeiss and the Summilux-R. The only thing I don't like the nikkor 1.2 is the distortion level. Being at 1.2 at only 52mm in diameter causes a bit of distortion.

I have a test shot of an A&W can in the Talk about Photography forum that is completely wide open to show of how shallow the DOF is. But most portrait at normal working distance stop down from f/5.6 - f/8 is the norm.

The aperture in the above shot was at 2.8, since I can get closer to the subject.
