Not much excitement to Drag Racing photography. First time as well, and was shooting from a quiet area away from the crowd on the other side. Some of these shots were published in June's NZ Performace Car magazine - a first for a local publication. (have been published several times in overseas aviation mags)

I like the first one best :)

Just a suggestion - the cars look the same sitting still as moving, can you think of a way to show the movement?

Nice shots.

The only way to show movement at the drags is to get a wheelie, burnout, tyre creasing, pan (ugh!) or crash :D

Bonus points if you get all of them in the same shot.

Thanks Simon, yeah the blue GTR is pretty hot. Thanks for pointing out I was published in June's issue. Had no idea when they would use them.

Thanks tim, yeah, bit difficult to capture drag racing down near the start line, cars just aren't moving as quick. Can capture pan shots, which I did do a couple, and they used one as a background for a page

Thanks Fran. Yeah you're right about capturing the action. Most published shots are either wheelspin, or getting the front wheels off the ground - which there was none of!

Cheers, hehe quiet, I meant as in no one else next to me shoulder-shoulder getting in the way. Had all the space I needed. :)

Great shots warren, you're becoming an excellent all round photographer (not that you weren't before :p).

I was just browsing your website- your rugby shots are great.

Thanks Adam.

I already knew you were a good all-round photographer ;)

Hope the 350D is keeping you well.
The Rugby League shots were fun, as I was down on the turf. :)

^heres a few pics from the other day. (I'm at school with only a few good pics from my camera on my flash drive, and PS was being dumb here, only like one is cropped, some of the others need to be cropped but doing 5 things at once)

Yeah of course there's some excitement.

It was a mere poke, that it wasn't quite as fun as close circuit racing, I had I just seen at the V8 Supercars a couple of weeks later. The burnouts, the smell, and the sound are great, but also like to see overtaking manouvres. It was my first time I've been to a drag event, honestly it wasn't that bad. :p

Thanks guys. That's some nice wheelies, Aaron.
