10D Sigma 50-500mm and a longish shutter allowed me to tkae this photo and the exposure makes it look MUCH lighter than it really was. Fotunatley these herons spend a lot of time standing completely still! Makes it much easier to use a slow shutter!

cyberdynesystems, I never saw this post until this morning
its a beautiful shot
its colour is unusual (blue heron ?)
and you got a capture in its mouth too

Nice shot under low light conditions, although I would have preferrred the head and eyes to be better focused
