Nice Shot or Art?

I was hoping this could be some B&W art, but its looking to me like a snapshot. Original included.

I don't know about it being a snap shot. I think your composition is excellent and the B&W is the way to go.

I guess what I'm trying to decide is whether it is worth framing and putting up for sale or at least putting up in a local photo club gallery exhibit. I didn't think it packed enough umph.

I see nothing wrong with the shot, but if you're having doubts it probably means you can do better.

It would be cooler if the water were calmer such that the reflections were cleaner....

Not a bad shot though.

If I had a beach house I'd hang it up on my wall I like it in B&W.

I hope you dont mind the edit, but I removed the rope that kept making my eyes follow it right out of the frame.

Thanks for the comments. I'm still not sure about it, with or without rope, but I appreciate the effort to give me another perspective.

Here's another one I thought about framing. It looks better when optimized for printing rather than web viewing.

Would you put it up in your house?

Well, since I normally only hang paintings and lithographs up in my house, the answer would be no, although I'm sure others would be happy to do so.

The colors and details here are very good, however, the background is a bit too busy for my taste. I would try using a shallower dof to get more blur. You could also do it using gaussian blur in PhotoShop.

Yeah, I know it needs some PS work, I did a quicky and only did it for printing when switched to web viewing it looked wierd. Of course you can see that. What do think about the composition? My wife didn't like the flower at bottom with the buds at the top. I was going for a spiral composition, but didn't quite get there. I still think it follows one of those golden mean rules.

After a long break I decided to come back to this image to see if I could do something with it. I went for a diagnal rule of thirds by using some gradients and kept the rope. It turned out well enough to take second in the local club competition. I would still like to take the time and selectively edit the boats, water, sky, and dock. I think I might be able to add in a more interesting sky too, but for now...I'm happy. Not bad for editing for a few minutes before going to work.

This other image took 3rd and I thought the original was crap, before I edited it. I gave it this overdone look on purpose.
